Ukrainian violinist MYROSLAVA KOTOROVYCH was born into a distinguished family of musicians (her father is the renowned violinist Bohorodar Kotorovych and her mother is the violinist Natalia Kmet) and graduated from the National Academy of Music of Ukraine. For ten years she performed with the world-famous Kremerata Baltica Orchestra (artistic director Gidon Kremer) and gained a wealth of experience. Ms Kotorovych also played for twelve years in the National Chamber Ensemble of Ukraine "Kyiv Soloists" and served as the ensemble's Deputy Director for Creative Affairs. 2013 m., The violinist brought together young talented musicians to share her performance experience and founded the ensemble Artehatta. The ensemble actively performs in various venues in major European cities, and has recently performed in Bremen, Germany, and London, Great Britain.
M. Kotorovych is a distinguished Ukrainian artist, Associate Professor of Violin at the Violin Department of the National Academy of Music of Ukraine, and a regular jury member at national and international competitions.
In 2023, the violinist, together with her daughter, left Ukraine due to the war and currently lives in Vilnius, where she works with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. Despite the difficulties, she continues to perform actively and to share her knowledge and creative passion with the younger generation of violinists.
The programme of two Ukrainian artists represents Ukrainian and French music. The work of contemporary Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov, which is closely and intricately linked to musical traditions, especially German Romanticism and the sonorous poetic word, is one of the most striking examples of modern, post-avant-garde melodic language. Critics have said of the French composer Francis Poulenc: "For him, melody was the most important element, and he found his way into a vast treasure trove of undiscovered melodies where everything seemed to have been explored, worked out and exploited. His melodies are simple, pleasant, easy to remember and emotionally expressive." And it is not for nothing that the famous French romantic Cesar Franck is considered one of the most important composers of the 19th century - his work influenced almost the entire later generation of French composers, including Ernest Chausson, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and many others.
