The group was born out of a sincere friendship while Martynas Šerpičis and Bertram Kvist Lynggaard were studying at the Danish National Conservatory of Music. The founders' aim is to combine different cultural contexts, to experiment and realise their creative visions through original compositions. Growing up in two different countries, the artists have acquired different tastes and understandings of music, but they don't try to agree on one similar sound, which
makes this project unique. The result is a mixed, borderless music that encompasses genres such as hardbop, modern jazz, avant-garde and folk music. The band released their first album, Occurrents.
The album Occurrents was released on 24 May 2024. "Two Face Tide recorded it in Denmark with their Danish team. The tracks were written separately by the two composers, creating two different worlds that define the artists. The music varies between modal jazz, free jazz, hardbop and Lithuanian and Danish folk music influences. The album is available on all platforms.
Martynas is a new generation jazz saxophonist and musician, combining Lithuanian folk motifs, contemporary music and jazz. He has already appeared at almost all Lithuanian jazz festivals and toured Europe with bands such as Two Face Tide, Nordic Youth Quintet, Humanoid Silhouette and others.
