From September 2023, Klaipėda Sculpture Park will host the exhibition "Memory", an exhibition of graphic works and glass monuments by the artist U. Jasenka. The exhibition is dedicated to supporting Ukraine and honouring the soldiers, women, men and children who have died and are still fighting bravely there. Klaipėda Sculpture Park is the city's former old cemetery, razed to the ground by the Soviets. Seven glass panels with drawings by U. Jasenka fit perfectly alongside the surviving monuments, adding to the park the thoughts, feelings and expectations of the people living today. The graphic works tell the story of Ukraine, but thanks to the transparency of the glass and the peculiarities of the printing process, our land shines through the drawings and speaks about the history of Lithuania. Glass is an extremely fragile material that requires care and attention. In just a few days, maybe even hours, the work can change and deteriorate, and the intended properties of glass, which are needed to reveal the idea of the work, will no longer play the necessary role. The exhibition will run until 30 June at the Exhibition Hall of the Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre (Didžioji Vandens g. 2, Klaipėda).
