The theme of this year's festival "RAIŠKA—REIKŠMĖ" unfolds the spectrum of performative aesthetics in Lithuanian music.
It is not yet an opera or a play, not performance art or cinema. However, this kind of music already goes beyond the limits of a regular piece or concert. Connecting with other media, art directions, often using unusual creative practices, she rubs various boundaries, often breaking into the field of interdisciplinary art, balancing on the edges of categories or creating new phenomena.
In the programs presented at the festival, performativity is a way of expression, a form of a work, media that complements music, maybe even a unique and yet to be named genre direction or, simply, a different than usual relationship with the audience. Be that as it may, this is a deliberately chosen way to realize the idea of the work. The chosen instruments are not random - they create certain meanings, complement various contexts, and the music is often accompanied by some spectacle or action. Each element or their combination is the meaning that navigates the listener, leads to the perception of the work and affects its experience.
