Since 2017, the International Kaunas Carillon Music Festival, organised by the Kaunas Artists' House, has been well-known to the citizens and guests of Kaunas, and has become the highlight of the annual carillon music concert series. The Kaunas Carillon, the second largest bell instrument in Lithuania, is an integral part of the city's rhythm. Since 1937, the sound of the bells has been filling the daily routine of the citizens and guests of the city. Over the past years, the Kaunas Carillon Music Festival has welcomed guests not only from Lithuania, but also from all over the world - from Poland, Ukraine, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Denmark, the USA and Japan. The versatility of the programmes has attracted a growing audience, and the carillonists' programmes have included classical, tango, jazz, electronic and even rock music. Alongside this, there are also contemporary works specially composed for the carillon. The sounds of the carillon were complemented by other instruments such as the guitar, the French horn, vocals and electronic music.
The festival will take place for the eighth time between 31 August and 1 September 2024. As has become customary, all concert programmes will be broadcast on an LED screen at the bottom of the tower. This allows the audience to get a closer look at the performer, the instrument and its specificities. One of the main highlights of the festival is the evening concert with the artistic illumination of the carillon tower.
