October is a month of celebrations and commemorations in Lithuania and internationally. Here are some of them:
1 October - International Music Day
This day celebrates the importance of music in our lives by organising concerts, musical events and initiatives to promote people's interest in and access to music.
1 October - International Day of Senior Citizens
International Day of Older Persons is dedicated to highlighting the needs, well-being and contribution of older people to society.
5 October - International Teachers' Day
Celebrated to highlight the importance of the teaching profession and to honour the contribution of teachers to the education and development of society.
31 October - Halloween
Although Halloween is not a traditional Lithuanian holiday, it is becoming increasingly popular in Lithuania, especially among young people. The day is marked by themed parties, children going "collecting" sweets, and decorating homes and public spaces with typical paraphernalia.
Other celebrations
October also sees various cultural events, festivals and art exhibitions, both for specific artists and for various cultural and historical themes. This can include film festivals, book fairs and other gatherings.
