While on holiday in Ignalina district, visit the Gaveikėnai Water Mill, considered a technical monument.
This one-storey building by the Palaukinis stream was built in the 19th century. Inside you can see some of the equipment that has been preserved since the time of its construction, and next to it you can see the bridge that crosses the dam.
The place is surrounded by various legends about devils, and that's why there are a few sculptures by folk artisan Teofilis Patiejūnas depicting this mythical creature nearby. At present, the Gaveikėnai water mill is not a resting place for devils, but for clergymen.
