The main function of the Smilgiai Cultural Centre of Panevėžys district is the organisation of leisure time employment of the population of Smilgiai municipality, the dissemination of professional art and culture, the preservation and promotion of ethno-cultural heritage, the diversity of the offer of the amateur art groups, the implementation of the criteria of their artistic level and mastery.
The employees of the Cultural Centre carry out non-formal education programmes (NFE), the Culture Passport programme, and educational programmes in the Smilgiai ethnographic farmstead.
