The church is the main attraction of Vilkija and a prominent landmark along a long stretch of the Nemunas valley (its towers are 35 m high). The author of the design is unknown.
The church is neo-Gothic, with a Latin cross plan, a polyhedral apse, and a two-domed roof. The interior has 3 naves. The front façade is complex, divided by a slightly backward pediment between two tall towers. In the churchyard, a wooden chapel was erected in 1960 by the folk artist J. Mikutaitis, and in 2014 a stone with a bas-relief of President Valdas Adamkus was unveiled.
