The only ceramics museum of its size in Lithuania, the Vytautas Valiušis Ceramics Museum in Leliūnai, Utena district, is among the 100 best and most interesting ceramics museums in Europe. It was founded in 2000 on the initiative and with the funds of Vytautas Valiušis, a third-generation ceramicist and the king of Lithuanian potters, in an old school building, so that today we can admire the treasures that have survived, and follow the traditions. In 2001, the potter donated his collection of ceramics to the Museum of Regional History of Utena. In 2010, the museum building was renovated.
An art centre is located next to the ceramics museum, inviting visitors to participate in workshops and immerse themselves in the process of creating ceramic products. A hotel on the second floor of the art centre allows for a longer stay surrounded by art and nature.
The pottery park surrounding the buildings enriches the experience in the museum with good emotions and a great time spent in the fresh air at any time of the year.
In addition to the permanent and temporary expositions and exhibitions, the museum and the art centre host a wide range of educational programmes, organise events, and carry out projects of cultural cooperation.
