Natalia Vorozhbyt is a Ukrainian playwright who studied at the Institute of Literature in Moscow. She has participated in writers' programmes such as the International Writers Program at the University of Iowa (USA) and the International Playwright Residence at the Royal Court Theatre in London. Her plays have been performed in Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania, Poland, the UK, Germany and the USA and translated into nine languages. Vorozhbyt is also a writer for film and television. In 2017, her play Bad Roads premiered at the Royal Court, which, like Monologue No.1 – a play that premiered in Kyiv in 2015 – focuses on the Ukrainian conflict, particularly the impact of the war on women. In 2020, she received the Ukrainian Women in Arts award for theatre and film. In 2021, she received Ukraine's "Oleksandr Dovzhenko State Prize" for her outstanding contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinema.
