Born in 1957 in Šilutė. In 1979 he graduated from the Lithuanian State Conservatoire of Puppetry (now the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre; course directors - D. Tamulevičiūtė and V. Mazūras). 1989-1990 studied at the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors in Moscow with Reina Agura. 1979 - 1992 - actor at Vilnius Puppet Theatre "Lėlė", 1989-1992 - director and designer at Telšiai Puppet Theatre Studio. 2009-2012 - Artistic Director of Vilnius Lėlė Theatre, taught puppetry to acting students at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
A. Mikutis has designed sets and directed performances at Vilnius Lėlė Theatre, Vilnius Old Town Theatre, Stalo Theatre, Šilutė Chamber Drama Theatre, Vaivorykštė Stained Glass Puppet Theatre and the National Martynas Mažvydas Library's theatre Berniukas žirniukas. He has also created television puppet shows. In Lithuania, Mikutis is known not only as a puppet theatre director, but also as a jeweller, creating works in amber, ivory and wood. Since 1995 he has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union and since 2004 a member of the Lithuanian National UNIMA Centre. Since 1985 he has participated in national and international jewellery exhibitions.

2007 theatre festival "Vaidiname zemdirbiams" (Rokiškis) award for the play "The Witch and Lukošiukas" (Vilnius theatre "Lėlė");
2000 theatre festival "Vaidiname zemdirbiams" (Rokiškis) award for the play "Trys pigshiukai" (Vilnius theatre "Lėlė").
