Born on 11 February 1917 in Kiršų village, Vilkaviskis district. Died on 09 02 2009 in Vilnius.
After graduating from Vilkaviškis Gymnasium of literary traditions, he studied Lithuanian studies at Kaunas and Vilnius universities. He lived in Baltimore, Chicago. He worked in various jobs, later edited "Literatūros lankus", "Aidus", and the cultural supplement of "Draugas". One of the most active cultural activists, book compilers and editors in the diaspora. He edited V. Mačernis's "Poetry" (1961), and the book of criticism "Lithuanian Literature Abroad, 1945 - 1967" (1968). One of the compilers and editors of "Lithuanian Exodus Literature 1940 - 1990" (1992). Since 1995 he has returned to Lithuania with his wife Kazimiera and lived in Vilnius.
