The first book The Day Anton Was Not There (Der Tag, an dem Anton nicht da war) was published in 1983. Her books are full of laughs that blur the line between reality and fantasy. Edith Schreiber-Wicke, who grew up in Steyre (Upper Austria), studied theater studies and art history in Vienna. At first she wrote advertising texts, then as a freelance author she wrote short stories, poetry, novels, screenplays, children's and youth literature. She has received numerous Austrian and international awards for her work.
