Max Roach was an American jazz drummer and composer. He was a pioneer of bebop, and is considered one of the most important drummers in the history of jazz. Roach also made significant contributions to the development of jazz fusion and jazz percussion. He led several jazz groups, including the Max Roach Quintet, and collaborated with many jazz legends such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis.
