Francisco Mignone was a Brazilian composer who initially learned music from his father before pursuing education in flute and composition at the Sâu Paulo Conservatory under Silvio Motto, Savino Benedictis, and Agostinho Cantú. He then went on to study at the Milan Conservatory under Vincenzo Ferroni in 1920. Mignone served as a professor of piano and harmony at the Sâu Paulo Conservatory from 1914-1920 and 1929-1932. He was later appointed as a faculty member at the Escola National de Música, University of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro in 1933 and remained there until 1967. Mignone's most renowned composition is the "Sinfonia Tropical".
