Benny Goodman, born on May 30, 1909, was an American jazz clarinetist and bandleader known as the 'King of Swing'. He started his professional music career in the mid-1920s, and went on to become one of the most popular and successful bandleaders of the 1930s and 40s. Goodman's career spanned over six decades, and he continued to perform and record music until his death in 1986.
