This biography is about a Mexican composer who was born in Álamos, Sonora in 1950. His music training began in 1966 with Thomas Rosseti and Eva McGowen in La Puente Calif. He was also a conductor of the Navojoa Sonora Band in 1969-70. He further pursued his music studies at various institutes including the Conservatory of Music of México, the Taller de Composición of the Institute of Fine Arts of México, Paris, and the California Institute of the Arts. He has worked at several institutions such as the National University of Mexico and Superior School of Music. He has also received various composition scholarships. He premiered his cantata Sueños® (Dreams) at the Festival Cervantino in October 2005, with texts from Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Guillermo Velázquez, Eduardo Langagne, Cristof Buarque and with artistic collaboration. Additionally, Venezuela organized the Festival Internacional 'Arturo Márquez'. His CD 'El Danzón Según Márquez®' was released in November 2005.
