Dr. Karl Ahrendt was a multifaceted musician and composer who served as Director of the Ohio University School of Music from 1950-1967. He authored over 60 compositions and won many prestigious awards including the Philadelphia Arts Alliance Award, the University of Illinois Contemporary Festival Competition, and the First Prize in the Ohio Music Teachers Association. His achievements earned him recognition in the International Who's Who in Music. Dr. Ahrendt's manuscripts are conserved in the OU School of Music Library and his performances are available on CDs duplicated for public access on the WOUB Public Radio Station.
