was a Czech music composer and publicist, writer, teacher.
After primary and secondary school, he graduated from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University, majoring in musicology, philosophy and psychology.In 1948, he successfully completed further music studies at the conservatory in Prague. Between 1949 and 1965 he was employed by Czechoslovak Radio. In the years 1952–1957, he lectured at the Department of Music Sciences of the Charles University, partly concurrently with his job at the radio station. Between 1965 and 1976 he was employed by the Supraphon music publishing house. From 1976 to 1982, he was an employee of the Theater Institute in Prague. He was also an honorary member of the Society of Jakub Jan Ryba in Rožmitál. He was buried in Olšany in Prague.
During his work, he devoted himself to composing and writing professional works, especially on the history of Czech music. He is the author of works on musical personalities of our history, for example Antonín Dvořák. In addition, he also wrote several science fiction stories in the collection Akce Lyra, one of which (Autosonido) was filmed by Czechoslovak Television. The Lyra event was also released in Ukraine. The author himself considers these short stories to be a peripheral matter of his work, the center of gravity of which is in the field of music.
