in 1932 graduated from the Warsaw Conservatory (K. Sikorski's compositions, J. Jarzembski's violin class). 1932-1933 lived in Kaunas, performed concerts. in 1933 studied in Paris with Nadia Bulanže (composition), Karla Fleša (violin). 1934-1935 and 1945-1946 taught at the Lodz Conservatory. Since 1966 Professor at the Warsaw High School of Music. 1966-1969 taught composition at the Warsaw Conservatory. Since 1960 Deputy Chairman of the Union of Polish Composers.CreationThe early work has features of a folkloric direction, a free contrapuntal technique, the turn towards neoclassicism and impressionism can be felt in the later work. He performed in France, Spain, Latvia, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Hungary, Lithuania (1930, 1932, 1933).
