Spanish composer and pianist, best known for compositions inspired by Spanish folk music.
Albenis's work is divided into three periods. The works of the early period were mainly influenced by the popular "salon music" style, inspired by Chopin, Schubert, Brahms. In 1883, he met the musicologist Felipe Pedrel. Under his influence, he began to write Spanish music based on Spanish folk melodies. In 1894 he settled in Paris. After getting to know the composers living there, the rich musical culture and overestimating his previous works, he began to write more complex compositions. Between 1905 and 1909 he wrote his most important work, the suite "Iberia".
