Danish composer and organist Dietrich Buxtehude probably studied under his father, Johann Buxtehude. He was an organist at St. Mary's Church in Lubeck, Germany. Buxtehude was respected by Johann Sebastian Bach and, along with Sweelinck, was the greatest representative of the North German organ school. (Contribution by Alessandro Simonetto.)
