Louis-Claude Daquin was born in Paris on July 4th, 1694. He was the son of Louis Daquin and Anne Tiersant. He was a prodigious child who at the age of six performed before Louis XIV. He was taught by Louis Marchand, and held several positions as an organist, including at Sainte-Chapelle (which he was appointed to at only twelve years old), as well as holding positions at Saint Paul's Church, Cordeliers (1732), Chapelle Royale (1739) and titular organist at Notre Dame (1755).
