The individual began playing violin at age seven and pursued music studies in Stockholm. They became concert master for the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra 'Harmonien' in 1884 and collaborated with Edvard Grieg on 'Norwegian Peasant Dances.' They furthered their studies in Leipzig with Adolf Brodsky, became concert master of the Aberdeen Musical Society, and a professor at the Music Conservatory in Helsinki. They continued studying in St. Petersburg, Berlin, and Liège. From 1893 to 1899, they served as concert master for 'Harmonien' in Bergen and began composing. From 1899 to 1929, the individual was the conductor of the theater orchestra in Oslo.
