Johann Adolf Hass was a German composer born on March 25th, 1699, in Bergedorf near Hamburg. He was first taught music by his father and later pursued a career in theatre due to his exceptional tenor voice. Hasse became successful and was eventually discovered by the Duke of Brunswick, who invited him to perform at the court theater. Hasse's compositions include over 120 operas, oratorios, cantatas, and instrumental music. While his instrumentation and ensembles were not particularly noteworthy, he was known for his gentle and genuine melodies. Faustina Bordogni, with whom he married, was also considered one of the greatest vocal artists of her time.
