Spanish composer and pianist. Born in 1867 in Lleida (Catalonia) and died in 1916 (in the Sussex disaster in WW1). Studied with Pedrell and Pujol. In 1901, he founded the Barcelona Conservatory. Along with Albéniz, he was one of the great new national composers of Spain. He created a multitude of keyboard works, such as Danzas españolas, Cantos de la juventud, Goyescas.
