Biography: Composer, violinist, poet, and writer. The first recorded event in Adam Jarzębski's life was his appointment in 1612 as a violinist with the Brandenburg court in Berlin. After about three years, he was granted leave to visit Italy to learn more about composition, but it appears he never returned to Berlin. Instead, he went to Warsaw, where he became a member of the orchestra associated with the royal chapel, a post he held until the end of his life. His date of birth is unknown, but it is likely that he was born near Warsaw around 1590. He must have died by the end of 1649 or early 1650, as the last recorded document relating to him is the signing of his will on December 26, 1648.
