Orlando di Lasso (1532-1594) was a Belgian composer of the late Renaissance period. He was born in Mons, Hainaut, in modern-day Belgium. Lasso was a prolific composer, well-known for his sacred music, choral works, and madrigals. His music is characterized by rich harmonies, complex counterpoint, and expressive melodies. Lasso spent much of his career working in Munich, where he served as the official court composer to the Duke of Bavaria. He died in Munich in 1594.
