Salzedo was a French-American harpist/composer. He studied piano and harp at the Paris Conservatory. Toscanini invited him to New York to become the first harpist of the Met Opera. Constrained by modern music, he founded the International Composers Guild with Varèse, oversaw "Eolus" and led many concerts. Salzedo became a harp professor at the Juilliard School of Music in New York and at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia.
