Anton Webern was a Viennese composer born in 1883. Studying with Arnold Schoenberg, he believed in originality and direct music, and sought to move away from the diatonic system. He was a prolific composer, producing masterpieces like the Passacaglia for Orchestra, Opus 1, Symphony, Opus 21, and Concerto for Nine Instruments, Opus 24. Although his music was not well-received during his lifetime, it has since been recognized as the work of a true genius. Webern was a man of his time, believing in truth, simplicity, and economy of style in music, as well as a love of nature. He died tragically in 1945, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire musicians today.
