Ambroise Thomas was a French composer, best known for his operas. He was born on August 5, 1811 in France. He studied under several prominent musicians of the time, and eventually became the director of the Paris Conservatory. Some of his best-known works include the operas 'Mignon' and 'Hamlet'. Thomas was also a respected teacher, and he trained many talented young musicians during his career. He died on February 12, 1896.
