Biography: The first part of his life was spent in Erfurt and Berlin. His initial piano lessons were taught by Hummel and Mendelssohn's teacher, Ludwig Berger from Berlin. Later, he was appointed as an organist in Magdeburg, which is located northwest of Dresden.
