Jakobus Handl, a composer from Slovenia, was born in Ribnica around April 15 to July 31, 1550. He was known for his sacred music. As a Cistercian, Gallas traveled through Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia, also visiting Melk Monastery / Lower Austria. In 1574, Gallas became a member of the royal court chapel in Vienna, and from 1579 to 1585 - the choir director of the Olomouc bishop (now Olomouc, Czech Republic). Utilizing his extensive travels, he worked as the choir director of the Prague St. John's Choir from around 1586 to 1591.
