Composer Giovanni Croce was born in 1557 in Venice, Italy. He studied music in Naples and then returned to Venice where he worked as a music teacher for several church choirs. Croce is most often remembered for his choral hymn compositions, but also wrote other types of music. He died in 1609 in Venice.
