Lithuanian composer, pianist.Father Vincas Bacevičius, brother Kęstutis Bacevičius, sister Gražina Bacevičius. in 1926 graduated from piano and composition classes at the Lodz Conservatory. 1926-1927 studied at the University of Lithuania in Kaunas. 1927-1928 studied philosophy at the Sorbonne, learned to play the piano. in 1928 after passing the exams as an external student, he received a diploma from the Russian Conservatory in Paris.1928-1939 as a pianist he held more than 300 solo concerts in Europe. 1931-1933 taught at Kaunas Music School, 1933-1939. Kaunas Conservatory. in 1933 edited and published the magazine "Muzika ir teataras". in 1938 Jury member of the international E. Ysaye piano competition in Belgium. King Leopold III of Belgium awarded him an order. He participated in the International Festivals of the Contemporary Music Society (London, 1938) and (Warsaw, 1939) as the head of the Lithuanian section. 1939-1940 performed in South America. Since 1940 lived in New York, held concerts in New York's Carnegie Hall, Chicago, Boston. He taught at New York, Brooklyn conservatories, Long Island Institute of Music. in 1969 received an award from the American Composers Association.The influence of late romanticism (Richard Wagner), impressionism (Claude Debius), symbolism (Alexander Scriabin, Bela Bartok) is evident in his early works. Influenced by Eastern philosophy and aesthetics, he raised the idea of cosmic music and avoided genres. His later work has features of constructivism.In solo concerts, he mostly played his own works by F. Liszt, F. Chopin, A. Scriabin, K. Debiusi, M. Ravel, M. K. Čiurlionis, J. Gruodis. He promoted the work of Lithuanian composers abroad.
