He started to publish his literary work, poems, in 1907. In Kiev, in Polish, the poetry book "Frustra", signed under the pseudonym Waidelota (Vaidilutė); since 1909 works were printed in Lithuanian. Vincas Krėvė created in many different genres. He combined a realistic view of the world with a romantic spirit (for example, the short story "Skerdžius"), combined traditional motifs of Lithuanian folklore with Eastern exoticism, and wrote historical works. Collected and published Lithuanian folk tales, wrote journalistic works, articles on cultural issues.in 1924 The dramas "Šarūnas" (dir. Antanas Sutkus) and "Skirgaila" (dir.
