Jaša Heifetz was one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. of violinists, often called the king of the violin or the 20th century. Pagan. Characterized by exceptional virtuosity and emotionality, he became an ideal performer for many concert hall listeners around the world. Having started his life in Vilnius, Jaša Heifecs made this city famous all over the world and became one of the brightest ambassadors of the capital of Lithuania.
Born in Vilnius. At the age of three, he received a violin from his father, Ruvim Heifetz, and began to learn to play. In 1906, the gifted child was admitted to the school of the Imperial Russian Music Society in Vilnius, where he studied violin with L. Auer's student Elia Malkin. Mr. Heifetz's extraordinarily rapid creative maturation allowed him to finish school quickly. After passing his final exam with flying colours, he left the music school at the age of eight. The first big public performance of J. Heifec took place in Kaunas, where on May 2, 1909. he performed at a charity concert. The press wrote: "the young violinist Heifetz caused a real furore. He is only eight years old; this is a child who is barely visible from the ground, who has recently started to speak, and who boldly goes on stage and plays Mendelssohn's concerto, Sarasates' fantasy "Faust". And how hard it is! The string stroke is bold, the small string is correctly placed, the performance is so musical that it is a pleasure to listen. The audience admired the talented boy and only waved their hands, where did such a phenomenon come from." In 1910, he went with his family to Petersburg, where he continued his free education at the conservatory with Joanes Nalbandian thanks to the director Alexander Glazunov, and later entered the class of the legendary pedagogue Leopold Auer.
