Irish actor who rose to fame for his role in Steven Spielberg's film Schindler's List. Nason's other famous films include Star Wars: Episode I - Shadow of Danger, Batman: Begins, Hostages of the Snowmen, Clash of the Titans, The Chronicles of Narnia and the Abduction series of films.

In 1971, L. Nison enrolled at the Royal University of Belfast, where he studied Physics and Computer Science
After graduating from university, L. Nison returned to Ballymena, where he worked in various jobs. In 1976 he joined the Lyric Players' Theatre in Belfast, where he performed for two years. His first film experience came in 1977 when he played Jesus Christ and the Evangelist in the religious film Pilgrim's Progress. Nison went to Dublin in 1978 and starred in several projects and joined the Abbey Theatre (National Theatre of Ireland).
In 1980, the film-maker John Burman saw Nison playing Leni Small in Of Mice and Men and offered him the role of Sir Gawain in Excalibur, about King Arthur. After Excalibur, Nison went to London, where he continued to act in low-budget films and television. He lived with the actress Helen Miren, whom he met on the set of Excalibur. Between 1982 and 1987 Nison appeared in five films, most notably The Bounty (1984, co-starring Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins) and The Mission (1986, co-starring Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons).

Director Steven Spielberg offered L. Nison the role of Oscar Schindler in "Schindler's List", a film about the Holocaust, after seeing L. Nison in the Broadway play "Anna Christie". Nison's performance was recognized with an Oscar nomination in the Best Actor category, but the Best Actor then went to Tom Hanks for his role in "Philadelphia"
