Born in Naples, Italy. 1715-1722 worked as Kapellmeister at Naples St. Anupra consistory, privately taught A. Ubertis, Farinel, Kafarel. Collaborated with Metastasius for a long time. 1733-1736 led the "Opera of the Nobility", which competed with G. F. Handel's troupe. 1752-1758 lived in Vienna, taught J. Haydn. He composed more than 50 operas, including "Themistocles" (1718), "Eumene" (1721), "Iphigenia in Aulide" (1735), "The Triumph of Camilla" (1740), oratorios, masses, sonatas, 6 chamber symphonies.
