Drummer Enoch (EJ) Strickland's style has been influenced by many of his great colleagues, including Elvin Jones, Roy Haynes, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Brian Blade and others. Enoch emphasizes finding inspiration in various musical styles and practices. "This is my real voice. In addition, I try to never forget that playing music is a pleasure," says the artist.
E.J. Strickland quickly rose to prominence in the New York scene, establishing a long-term partnership with Ravi Coltrane, Russell Malone, Manuel Valera, touring the world with Reggie Washington, Dave Weiss, Christian Sands. He also had to work with W. Marsal, Cassandra Wilson, Herbie Hancock.
Today, the drummer actively creates music and expresses himself as a band leader and musician. In the last ten years, he has been immortalized in more than 60 albums.
