Biography
D. Pečiura was born in 1938 in Panevėžys, studied at the Moscow Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). After graduating, he worked at a Lithuanian film studio, and lived in the United States from 1990 to 2006.
D. Pečiūra worked with the most famous Lithuanian film directors Algimantas Puipa, Almantas Grikevičius, Vytautas Žalakevičius, Raimonds Vabalus, Marijonas Giedrias, Jonas Vaitkums, Algirdas Aramins and others.
According to the announcement of the Union of Cinematographers, he shot over 24 feature films that left a mark in the history of Lithuanian cinema.
Among them are director Almantas Grikevičius's film "Faktas", which was evaluated at the international Cannes Film Festival, the films "Maža izžažtis", "Benai, plaukiam ī Nida", "Marš, marš, tra-ta-ta!", "I'm sorry". "Sadūto-tuto", "I won't be a gangster, my dear", "Devil's seed", "The thrush is a green bird", etc.
in 2015 D. Pečiūra was honored with the "Aċuolas" award of the Association of Lithuanian Cinematographers (LAC) for his lifetime's work.
