1984 graduated from the Lithuanian Conservatoire (percussion class of Alvydas Vainius). From 1986 he played in S. Sasnauskas' jazz ensemble, in 1989 he joined J. Milašius' ensemble Gitaromanija. He has also played with other musicians such as V. Čekasinas, P. Vyšniauskas, T. Kutavičius, E. B. Kanevičius, and with rock, jazz, and popular music bands.
He periodically visits Lithuania from the USA and performs here with J. Milašius, L. Mockūnas, Dovydas Stalmokas, Dominykas Vyšniauskas, and Mindaugas Vadoklis. With young musicians he formed the Naujo Atomic Orchestra (with whom he toured Austria, Croatia), and in Vilnius and Kaunas he performed with musicians from New York. In 2020 he initiated a festival in memory of J. Mekas.
D. Naujokaitis is active in theatre and cinema (he composes music for films, collaborates with director Julius Žižliauskas), creates performances and films (in Lithuania and New York).
