In 1992 he graduated from Vilnius 7th Secondary School with a silver medal.
In 1992-1996 he studied at the Faculty of Economics of Vilnius University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration and management. In 1998 she obtained a Master's degree in Economics.
During her studies, she received training from international institutions (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, US Agency for International Development, European Union organisations, etc.).
Experiences
In the beginning of 1997, during her studies at the Master's degree level, she won the competition for a job as an economist in the Tax Department of the Ministry of Finance. After the establishment of the Tax Department in the Ministry, she worked as an economist, head of the department and later as head of the department. In May 2004, she became the Ministry's Secretary in charge of Tax, Audit, Accounting and Reporting, and in 2008, she became the Secretary in charge of the Fiscal Policy Department. From July 2009 to December 2012, she served as Minister of Finance in the 15th Government.
From 2013 to 2016, Šimonytė was a lecturer at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of Vilnius University and the Institute of International Relations and Political Science. At the same time, she was a member of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, supervising supervisory issues, and a member of the EU's joint banking supervisory authority, the Board of Supervisors.
In 2014, she was elected by the VU community as an external member of the VU Council, and in 2014-2016 as the Chairperson of the Council.
Since 2016, Ms Šimonytė has been a member of the Seimas elected in the first round of the single-mandate constituency of Antakalnis. In 2016-2020, she served on the Anti-Corruption and Disability Rights Commissions, the Committee on European Affairs, chaired the Audit Committee, and was a member of the Women's Parliamentary Group, the May 3rd Parliamentary Group, the Pro-Ukraine Group, the Pro-Ukraine Group, the Friends of European Russia Group, and other parliamentary groups.
On November 25, 2016 she was appointed Prime Minister of Lithuania by Presidential Decree. On 11 December 2020, her cabinet of ministers took office.
