Composer, pianist, pedagogue and conductor of the Italian Classical era. He is the first composer to write music specifically for the piano. Known for his collections of sonatas, sonatinas and piano lessons. In the 19th century, Clementi was called "the father of the piano", "the father of modern piano playing technique" or "the father of Romantic piano virtuosity".
