He started writing in his teenage years, and his first poem was published in the Varėna regional newspaper. Since 1965 his poems have been published in various newspapers and magazines. Poetry and letters were published in the collection "Ne akmenys lieli".
The poetic image in the poems is often created from the primary elements of nature, such as iron, fire, water, stone, and is characterised by dialects, archaisms, and new words. The poetry is dominated by an unspecific reminiscence of history, a man called a "dusty man" is connected to the world by a highway, a gravel road, and life is compared to the top of a tree that has been cut off.
