is a Latvian photo artist and teacher.Since 1964, she has been photographing works of art, architecture, portraits and urban environments, her works can be found in the collections of several museums - Madona, Talsa, Rundāle Castle and the Latvian Museum of Photography, Riga, as well as in private collections in Latvia, France, Canada and the USA. Her professional life is mainly related to the museum.
In 1962, he graduated from the 36th secondary school in Riga and began to learn photography on his own. In 1964, she joined the Photo Club "Rīga" and until 1974 created most of the photographs shown in the "City of My Youth" exhibition.
In 1973, she began her professional career as a photo lab technician at the Rundāle Castle Museum, where she photographed objects to be restored for eleven years.In 1984, he graduated from the Riga Technical School of Cultural Workers, department of photography and cinema. From Pilsrundāle, she moved back to Riga and accepted a job at the State Art Museum (currently Latvian National Art Museum, LNMM), where she worked for twenty years as a staff photographer. In 2005, Brašmane created a photo exhibition "Muzejnieki", dedicated to the museum workers she met over thirty years.
In 1991, he documented the events of January in various places in Riga, after which he created the photo cycle "Barricades".Since 1995, the Riga College of Civil Engineering has been teaching future restorers photo documentation.
In 2015, Brašmane was awarded the fourth class Cross of Appreciation for merits in Latvian culture, outstanding lifelong creative contribution to the art of black and white photography and preservation of cultural and historical heritage.
She has been a member of the Latvian Designers' Union since 1991 and joined the Latvian Artists' Union in 2005. Participated in the Photo Association of the Latvian Cultural Foundation (1988-1998).
