One of the most prominent painters of the 1960s-1970s, during that period he created works that were ideologically committed, but visually suggestive. After his internship in Italy in 1963-1964, his work is influenced by Italian neorealism, characterised by a plastically expressive, sometimes ironic motif of everyday life, reportage, psychological characterisation of the sitter, and the rendering of inner conflicts. The compositional structure of the painting is based on the principle of the photographic frame, cinematographic montage. Later works are dominated by landscapes, still lifes, mainly flowers, animalistic genre paintings - horses, poultry.
