Graduated from Vilnius 23rd Secondary School. In 1975, he graduated as a photographer from Vilnius 47th Technical School. For ten years he worked as a photographer in the photographic studio of Šakiai Domestic Population Service Combine.
Lives in Kudirkos Naumiestis. Since 1983 he has been participating in exhibitions.
In 1997 he was awarded the honorary title of "Artist Photographer" by the International Federation of Artistic Photography (FIAP), in the European Photography Festival "Rencontres d'Arles" (Arles Meetings) in Arles, France, in 2009 his works were awarded with the Discovery of the Year Prize.
 In the years 2000-2001 and 2003-2004 he was awarded with the Individual State Grant of the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture. His works are in private collections in Lithuania and abroad.
