Šarūnas Šlektavičius was born and grew up in Vilnius, in the family of Gerardas Šlektavičius and Birutė Stančikaitė, both well-known graphic artists. He graduated from the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts, and studied design and architecture at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Since 2004 he has been a lecturer at the Design Department of the Academy of Fine Arts, where he has been the head since 2022. In 2021, he was elected President of the VAA Senate. Š.Šlektavičius has been actively involved in the development and dissemination of design competences and various international projects for two decades, and he was one of the founders and active co-authors of the Design Foundation, which was established in 2016. With a team of like-minded people, he created the eco-friendly river ferry across the Neris River "Uperis", and encouraged others to create ambitious, eco-friendly and innovative products. He also taught kindness and responsibility to his son Arnas, whom he raised with his wife, the theatrologist Goda Dapšyte, surrounded by love.
